IAAF Academy Course for Elite Coach on Throws

On December 14-18, 2014, the IAAF Academy Course for Elite Coach on Throws was held by IAAF RDC•Beijing.  In cooperation with the Coaching Academy of General Administration of Sport, this course was staged at Sports Officials Training Center of General Administration of Sport in Beijing Sport University.

Totally 14 coaches (9 men and 5 woman) participated in this course who were from the Member Federations of Japan, Korea, D.P.R. Korea, Mongolia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong•China and Chinese Taipei. In addition, the Coaching Academy of China General Administration of Sport also chose 22 high level Throwing coaches to attend this course.




 


 

Mr. Donald Babbitt (USA), Mr. ZHONG Bingshu (CHN, Capital University of Physical Education), Mr. CAO Jianmin (CHN,BSU) and Mr. ZHANG Yingbo (CHN,BSU) were invited to be the lecturers of this course. Mr. Babbitt presented lectures and led the sessions covering topics such as, Applied Sports Science and the Coaching Process, Factors Influencing Power Development and Throwing Performance, Strength Training & Conditioning, Individual Differences and Climates for Behavior Change, Technology in Coaching the Throws, Planning for Youth and Junior Development in the Throws as well as the Training Theory and Practical Application for Four Throwing Events; Mr. ZHONG Bingshu presented lectures of Fundamentals of Team Building and Support Team Process as well as Understanding Coach/Athlete Relationships; Mr. CAO Jianmin delivered the lectures of Rest and Regeneration as well as Nutrition and Supplementation; Mr. ZHANG Yingbo introduced the Energy System Physiology Applied to the Throws, Energy System Physiology Applied to the Throws, Physiological Demands and Limiting Factors in Throwing Performance and Factors in Developing a Technical Model for the Throws.

At the end of this course, the participants gave high praise to the lecturers on their knowledge and lecturing.
